NEC Classic Motor Show 2018
We had two 1959 cars displayed on the British Mini Club stand.
A September built Clipper Blue Morris de-luxe belonging to Jerry Pennell and a Cherry Red Morris Basic belonging to Trevor Ripley.
The Cherry Red De-luxe belonging to Ian Matthews which won the Maguires Showcase award last year was on display at the entrance to Hall 1.

Well the very long day was worth it for the trip to MITP, the weather stayed OK, actually the sun came out several times.
I left home at 05:10 and got back at 20:15 and 250 miles, must be mad should have stayed overnight Saturday.
Got to love these cars to do this.
I did trailer the car up, should have driven it but the fuel hose debacle put paid to that.
A very good day with 432 getting pride of place on the front row of the MINIWORLD stand next to the Prisoner Mini Moke.
Mine was the oldest car there, a very nice 1960 or 61 Speedwell blue Austin was on the stand. A few Mk1's were to be seen, but as Dave Hollis said MITP seems to be taken over by the BMW cars.
I gave my thanks to Karen, Jim and Kay from MINIWORLD for the invite to display, Jim Jupp is coming to Castle Combe with us at the end of September, Karen can't make it a prior engagement.
I enjoyed the day greatly!

A bright and sunny day greeted those 59er's who were able to make the trip to Gaydon for the Metro and Mini day on june 3rd 2018, those attending were:
Trevor Ripley with June Austin Se7en Portugese car Chassis 185 and a Morris Mini Minor Standard.
Bill Bell with his newly restored June Danish Austin 850 Partner Chassis 215 and looking fabulous as one would expect from Bill's attention to detail.
Jerry Pennell with old favourite September Morris Mini Minor.
Paul Kimpton with his September Irish Morris Mini Minor.
Emma Appleby with October Austin Se7en DEX.
A special treat was to have some of the cars paraded around the show arena during the day and have the commentator interview some of the owners to chat about the cars, later in the day the 2 oldest cars 185 and 215 appeared again in tha arena with the two oldest BMW MINI R50 that were attending the show The day remained bright sunny and hot and a good day was had by all attending the show, much interest was shown by fellow Mini attendees and the public.

For the first show of the year MINIFAIR January 28th at Bingley Hall, the 59 Register did have a fairly good display of cars and people in attendance, that is in spite of the weather on the Saturday which was wet and windy.
The cars on show were:
Ian Matthews’ newly restored and immaculate Cherry Red Morris in the concours pride of ownership section.
Jerry Pennell and his Clipper Blue Morris on the MINIWORLD stand.
1959 Register stalwarts and custodians Trevor, Bill and Ian attended with their:-
A) 1959 Moke Prototype.
B) Trevor with his Cherry Red Morris standard spec car.
C) Bill persuaded the Japanese owner of the Autocar round the MED Morris Cherry Red car 667GFC to be displayed just before the restoration is started.
This particular car created a great deal of interest. A full written history of the car was on show on the display boards, it made an interesting read.
The cars and display attracted a lot of attention and familiar faces of ‘59 owners and interested parties were seen throughout the day.
